Event Overview

The event celebrated the launch of Lancôme’s HAPTA device while highlighting community, accessibility, and empowerment. In collaboration with the Malaysian Rare Disease Society, the program included a meaningful panel discussion and an inspiring adaptive fashion show featuring inclusive designs. Special thanks to Lancôme and the Malaysian Rare Disease Society for the invitation.

Meet

The event showcased Lâncome’s brand new innovation, HAPTA. HAPTA is the world’s first handheld, ultra-precise smart makeup applicator intended to help people with conditions such as arthritis, stroke-related impairments, or tremors to apply lipstick and mascara independently. This empowers women by restoring a sense of autonomy, confidence, and dignity. By making everyday routines more accessible, HAPTA allows women of all abilities to express themselves freely, reinforcing the idea that beauty and self-care should never be limited by physical challenges.

Adaptive Fashion

Another highlight of the event was an inspiring adaptive fashion show that celebrated inclusivity and thoughtful design. The runway featured clothing specially created to be more accessible for people with physical challenges, incorporating details such as magnetic buttons, easy-to-slip silhouettes, and functional fastenings that make dressing simpler and more comfortable. More than just fashion, the showcase emphasized dignity, independence, and self-expression. By presenting adaptive clothing in a runway setting, the show challenged traditional ideas of fashion and highlighted how style and accessibility can coexist, empowering individuals of all abilities to feel confident and included.

Building Community

Most importantly, the event created a space for individuals and caretakers support each other through their journeys. The event featured a heartfelt panel of individuals living with rare diseases alongside their caregivers. Through their stories, challenges, and personal reflections, the panel created an atmosphere of empathy and understanding. Many attendees shared questions and experiences, allowing people to learn from one another and see that they were not facing their journeys alone. The conversations were uplifting and empowering, reminding everyone present of the strength that comes from community support and shared voices.
