Sai Ananda x EqualWorld
World Enrichment Workshop
Event Overview
On Friday, 20th February 2026, we hosted enrichment workshops for over 60 underprivileged children, creating a day filled with learning and fun. There were three stations, which were Computer Science, Art, and Equalympics, where they explored coding and cybersecurity, expressed creativity through origami, and built teamwork through games. We also held conversations about breaking gender stereotypes and shared the vision of an Equal World, where everyone has an equal chance to thrive and through this event, we hoped to break systemic gender based barriers between because this is the age it begins, and we at Equal World believe that education is the most important aspect of achieving equilibrium.
Arts & Crafts
The Art Workshop was designed around one core question: “What do you believe you are capable of becoming?” We began with origami butterflies, where each child wrote their ambition inside the paper before folding it, symbolising protection, potential, and transformation—just like a butterfly that grows its wings over time. Some children hesitated or looked to their peers for ideas, which opened the door for volunteers to start conversations about their choices and gently challenge gender stereotypes when certain careers were seen as “for boys.” The children then created “Vision Postcards,” illustrating where they see themselves in 10 years, encouraging future thinking and goal setting. The workshop ended with a collective tree mural where each child signed their name and ambition, representing shared growth and belonging. Through these activities, the workshop fostered self-expression, challenged limiting beliefs, encouraged long-term aspirations, and helped children see their dreams as valid and achievable.
Computer Science
The Computer Science workshop focused on building access, exposure, and confidence in technology for children with limited prior experience. Using Scratch, students worked in small groups to design characters, sequence actions, and build simple games, developing problem-solving, logical thinking, and collaboration skills. They also learned foundational cybersecurity principles, including protecting personal information, understanding digital footprints, and practising safe passwords. Girls were encouraged to lead and boys to collaborate, reinforcing that technology belongs to everyone. The session boosted digital literacy, reduced tech intimidation, challenged STEM gender stereotypes, and expanded awareness of future opportunities.
Equalympics
Equalympics was designed to give children a lived experience of equality, not just a discussion. The workshop began with high-energy games like Red Light, Green Light, paper plane challenges, and strategy-based tic-tac-toe, with the first two rounds played in same-gender teams to observe communication, leadership, and confidence dynamics. In the final mixed-gender round, collaboration improved, strategies balanced, and overall performance strengthened, leading to a reflection where the children themselves realized that working together produced better results. The workshop broke down “boys vs girls” barriers, encouraged cross-gender teamwork, strengthened communication skills, and showed that inclusion leads to stronger outcomes—turning equality into an experienced, internalized lesson.
